Have you Heard of Cash Plus Cards?
When a customer opens a new bank account, the bank provides the customer with an ATM or Automatic Teller card. If the customer needs to make a cash withdraw or enquire the balance of the account he can now do this at the bank’s ATM machine. He no longer needs to come into the bank for these simple transactions.
To improve features, banks merged the ATM card with a Debit card that includes the logo from a major credit card company so make purchasing items at any store that accepts credit cards a breeze. Customers appreciate the convenience of the Debit card for POS (Point of Sale) purchases and no longer needing to carry cash around.
To improve on what most considered a perfect product, Banks developed the Cash Plus card.
The Cash Plus card combines all the features and benefits of the debit and ATM cards into one easy to use card. In the past, the customer would need to complete his transactions at a bank’s ATM or by the use of shopkeeper or store contacting his bank to authorize the purchase. With the Cash Plus card, greater potential for customer benefit is created.
Now, at any ATM around the world that accepts “Plus” sign cards, a customer can make a withdrawal, check balances and transfer funds easily and efficiently putting his money in reach no matter how far away from his local bank he is.
Using his Plus card, a customer can make purchases or process payments anywhere major credit cards, like Visa, are accepted. This eliminates the need for traveler’s checks and computing confusing foreign currency exchange rates. A customer now uses his card and goes…anywhere.
Cash Plus cards have faced another revolution in recent years offering the “pre-paid” card, which can be used for anything from grocery items, gasoline purchases or any other pay as you go purchase.
The pre-paid card can be recharged which is great for those who want to budget their money better while not being faced with the aggravation of late payments, interest charges or huge over the spending limit fees as is the case with credit cards. Pre-paid cards even allow the owner to shop online or by phone with the knowledge that their purchase is secure and their personal identity and credit is not at risk.
An additional and often overlooked benefit of the Cash Plus card is that the bearer is offered a higher withdrawal limit at an ATM as well as an increased average daily line of use at a POS. Also, Plus cards typically do not have additional annual fees or POS fees. However, as with any debit card, ATM charges may be applicable as these fees are based on particular ATM’s bank policy.
One problem that comes up is that people don’t always know where to find information on cash advance credit cards . This is understandable and we hope you’ve found what you are looking for by browsing our site. We update it regularly so please bookmark us.

Canadians using bank card in Thailand?
Does anyone bank with CIBC? Have you had problems using her debit in Thailand? I really do not want to bring $2500 CAD in Travellors Cheques and would prefer to bring half TC and the other on my debit and a little bit of cash to get from airport to hotel. The back of my card says ‘PLUS’. I heard I should bring 2 debit cards as well, but my bank will only allow me to have 1.
It actually one per account. I think they meant 2 debit cards total-one from each bank. You might want to see if they can upgrade your card to a Maestro card. Maestro can sometimes work at atms that takes Mastercard. This card may also work at the point of sale with or even sometimes without a pin.

Hello, I’ve been to Europe, Near East, South East Asia and China. I only used my National Bank of Canada debit card, I think yours will work, one the banks most seen is HSBC ( Hong Kong Shangai Banking Co. ) in Asia so if you could get one it will work all over Asia and elsewhere.

I have a card with another Canadian bank and it works in atms. Whatever you do, don’t take you band or credit card with you to patong. That place goes to your head in a rush.

Hi Love911 I don’t have a Canadian one but I have a plus and a couple of other logos on the back. I understand that as long as you have a VIsa or MC on it it will work. I would not take the T-Checks unless you want to get screwed on fees and wait in lines all the time. I went with a buddy once who did this and it was an endless "trail of tears". Also call your bank they should know and you should call them anyway as they often turn these cards off if you tell them you are going to Thailand.
Good luck

I agree with Marc’s answer by using HSBC debit card because HSBC has branch in Bangkok and every Banking will be connected 24 hours. I think City Bank is also very convenience card in Thailand.
